Spotlight on our Membership Chair Darlene Mann

Membership Chair Darlene Mann

We have a lot of wonderful women in our club that give tirelessly to help those in our community. Today I would like to introduce one of those women to you.

Her name is Darlene Mann. She has been a Bullitt County Women's Club member for 22 years.  In those 22 years she has been a very active member of the club. She has served as president (1997) First vice president (1996) She has been Membership chair from 1998-2010 and is currently the chair of the the membership committee. She has also served on the district level as District Conservation Chair. She chairs the Bake Sale Committee something that has been near and dear to her. She began as chair in 1996 and still continues to serve as Bake Sale Chair today.  She has also served on the Fine Arts, Style Show and Jr. Miss Committee.

She was invited to attend a Salad Supper in 1992 that was hosted at the home of Betty Porter. Darlene's twins had just turned 2 and she knew it would be a wonderful opportunity to get out and mingle with other women in the community. She was so impressed by the different facets of the club and how they were so involved in in the Scholarship Programs. It wasn't until the year of the 75th anniversary of the club that I really realized the far reaching impact of the club. I took on a project and re-typed a manuscript from 1948 spotlighting the first 25 years of the club. I was awe struck at what this small club had achieved in 25 years! I am so honored to be a part of the Bullitt County Women's Club.

Darlene is an active member of the Mt. Washington community, she sits on the Main Street Board and she is very active in her church, First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington. She works full time out side the home and at this time her work dictates how much time she has to spend on projects in the community.

Darlene married her high school sweet-heart in 1978 and has been married for 36 years. Her husband Mike is a life long resident of Mt. Washington, after they were married she moved to Mt. Washington where they built a wonderful life together. They have 3 children, Laura who is 26, and Michael and Maddie that are 24.  Laura and Maddie still live and work in Mt. Washington and Michael just took a position in New York working for Tommy Hilfiger.

Darlene loves reading, traveling and cooking and baking and has an amazing garden her and her husband enjoy working in.  She still plans on being the Chair of the Bake sale Committee and also is interested in finding out more about the By-Laws Committee.

She is on facebook be sure to check and make sure you have her added on your facebook page. The pictures of her garden she shares on facebook are so beautiful they really have a beautiful garden.
